Every year, the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Centre awards substantial scholarships to high-level young musicians studying in France and rigorously selected in their respective disciplines – interpretation, composition and musicology – by a jury appointed for that occasion.
The Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Centre’s artistic council in charge of the scholarships part, meets three times a year: in February to form an international jury; in July to select the applications for the scholarships; in October to fix the amount of the awards.
Renewed every year, the international jury of five outstanding personalities in music is called upon to give its advice.
There is always one year gap between the year of the application for the scholarship and the year one gets it: this is the reason why the project of studies and the application for the scholarship are to be given two years in advance.
The jury notifies the scholarships every year in October but they are awarded only the following academic year.
For instance, a scholarship notified in October 2012 will be awarded the following academic year, in two times: October 2013 and February 2014.
The Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Centre only supports studies projects carried in France.
The amount of the scholarships is likely to be adapted to the candidates’ needs, according to the funds they have and according to the amount of work they intend to offer. The award-winner of the scholarship shall acknowledge receipt of the cheque and confirm by writing that the use of the scholarship will be in keeping with the statement made in his application.
A the end of the academic year, the award-winner will inform the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Centre about the work realised thanks to the scholarship; if need be, he will join along with his report, reviews or any other related document.
An award-winner may ask the renewal of his scholarship for a second year.
